induced labour

the gynae decided to have me induced on wednesday night (12/10) and hope the baby will pop out by 13/10. if she still decided to stay in there, then it's going to be c-section for me. too many medical interventions imo.

he decided this because the lil one hasnt been gaining weight during the 1 week and he's afraid she might secrete inside. i should have asked the gynae on other alternatives beside induction cos when i read about this, there were many implications involved in the process. this has begun to worry me. a lot. based on the forum i visited regularly (http://moms.myoccasion.com), the reason the gynae gave is not valid enough as ultrascans in the late pregnancy stage are inaccurate. moreover the lil one is still making good movements in there. membrane sweeps can also be done first to bring on labour before methods of inductions are offered.

my husband and i had discussed and hope that the lil one will meet us before the induction date. but i think i'll call my gynae tomorrow and see what he has to say. i hope i will make the right choice. :(

4 more weeks!!!

By now I could feel the lil one has turned head-down and rested there because when she hiccups, I could feel jerky movements below my belly-button. I could also feel her kicks to my ribs *most of the time it's my right side*..sometimes painful ones which make me stop whatever I'm doing and jabs from her arms and legs.

My feet ache and I am soo getting tired nowadays probably because the lil one is getting heavier by the day. Uncomfortable contractions could be felt sometimes especially when I stand too long. But hey, the excitement of seeing her in a month time is enough for me to smile despite all these.

30 wks + 5 days

My uterus had inflated to the size of a watermelon, housing an energetic infant, half a pound of placental goo and a thick umbilical cord. I can't even fit into one of my maternity pants now! I guess I will have to drop by the maternity shop like Maternity Exchange to grab a couple of pants and blouses.

Our lil one has been growing well. She was 1.6kg on her last Saturday checkup. By today, I bet she would have gained a bit as I've been feeding myself with good food. The gynae had also mentioned about the EDD to be on the 13th October 2005. That's like 2 months from now. Time really flies!

I had a nasty leg cramp yester'nite. But since this wasn't the first time, I managed to clear it within minutes myself by slowly lifting my leg up and putting it back down again. I realised that the cramps happened when I stretched my legs too sudden. And it only happened with my left leg.

We had also been buying stuffs for the baby. Not much but the essential ones like bottles, steriliser, cotton buds. Of course, there are still many things we have yet to buy like her nappy rash cream, diapers, etc but that will happen when it's September.

I have also made a couple of choices to have a natural birth for the lil one and as soon as she's born, I'm going to breastfeed her. :)

As I'm typing this, I'm letting her listen to some songs. She wriggled initially and more movements were felt at certain parts of some songs. hehe.

At 26 weeks

Me and the lil one is growing well. She weighs nearly a kg at 26 weeks which is a good sign that she's absorbing the nutrients well. I've read somewhere that the lil one can now taste traces of my food through the amniotic fluid. My uterus is now the size of a basketball. 8) I gained a healthy 3kg since the last checkup and the gynae advised me not to gain so MUCH weight at a time. I would have chuckled there when the gynae said I must look at what I'm eating or I will have to go on a diet.

According to babycentre, the lil one can now hear our voices so it's a good time to talk and read to her. Her eyes should be able to open and close and she can even cover them with her itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny hand or look away in reaction to very bright light.

Besides the 2 leg cramps and the occasional swollen feet caused by water retention, there isn't much to complain about.

Swollen foot

I noticed my left foot was swollen when I woke up this morning but I thought it will subside after I rubbed it with some medicated oil. I walked to work and up the slope like any other day without any limp. The swell didn't get better though. I was shocked when I took off my shoes and saw the puffy'ness. It was red and shiny. It wasn't a bit painful when I pressed it slightly in the morning but now it is. My leg felt as if it was tied with a few grams of weights and I walked with a slight limp. Time for me to get a pair of new shoes with adjustable straps or sandals when I returned from work later.
